Gospel Unplugged

Preamble

Gospel Unplugged is a regular capacity-building and intimate showcase program for VIGA Music Awards winners, nominees, and emerging creatives. It supports artists’ growth by providing a platform for networking, skill-building, and spiritual enrichment, with Christian inspiration and entertainment—including live band, praise & worship, comedy, dance, artist interviews, contemporary music, and professional mentorship through workshops and masterclasses.

Overview

Since 2007, the VIGA Music Awards have recognized about 5,690 nominees and presented 500 plus awards across multiple categories. Yet few of those artists performed again within VIGA settings after the awards, and even at the ceremony only a select few took the stage. Meanwhile, the Christian community lacked a dedicated space for “clean” entertainment—and artists needed a place to fellowship, edify one another, and advance the gospel together. Gospel Unplugged addresses that.

Justification

  • Provides a regular, family-friendly destination for the Christian community to enjoy clean entertainment.
  • Offers consistent exposure for established and emerging Christian talent.
  • Fosters unity of purpose and positive character; soul nourishment and expert guidance help align artists’ work with Kingdom values.

Methodology & Format

The event takes place at the National Theatre every 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of the month, streaming live on VIGA Media’s social platforms. It is also recorded and broadcast on partner TV stations.
