New Ojol Rules, Maximum 8 Percent Driver Discount and Mandatory JKK and Health Insurance

JAKARTA – Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 27 of 2026 concerning Online Transportation Protection is issued. With this rule, the discount for online motorcycle taxi (ojol) applicators is set at a maximum of 8 percent.

This means that if previously drivers only pocketed around 80 percent of their income, through this new regulation drivers are entitled to receive a minimum of 92 percent of their total income. Thus, the maximum discount for applicators is limited to only 8 percent.

“What I was talking about earlier must be given work accident insurance, BPJS Health, health insurance will be provided, as well as income sharing from 80 percent for drivers, now the minimum is 92 percent for drivers,” said Prabowo.

This presidential regulation also requires the provision of social protection for motorbike taxi drivers, including work accident insurance as well as BPJS Health facilities and health insurance.

Furthermore, Prabowo said that the government had increased the minimum wage and added subsidized housing for workers. “We give holiday bonuses to drivers and couriers,” he said.
