Ayushmann Khurrana’s romantic comedy drama, Pati Patni Aur Woh Doreleased in theatres on May 15 and opened to mixed reviews from critics and audiences. The film had a sluggish start at the box office and did not cross the opening-day collection of Kartik Aaryan’s 2019 hit Pati Patni Aur Woh.
Ayushmann’s film struggles to cross the Rs 4 crore mark
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do collected Rs 4.38 crore nett at the box office on its first day, according to official industry figures.
The comedy-drama is one of the lowest openings of Ayushmann’s career, as reported by Sack girl. The Mudassar Aziz directorial is described as a spiritual sequel to Kartik Aaryan’s 2019 release.
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do earned less than half of the Rs 9.10 crore collected on the opening day by Pati Patni Aur Wohwhich featured Kartik Aaryan alongside Ananya Panday and Bhumi Pednekar. The latest film also recorded low occupancy on day one, with 5.38% in morning shows, 10.92% in afternoon shows and 10.46% in evening shows.
According to Sacnilk, overseas, the film has grossed a total of Rs 1 crore in gross collections, pushing its total worldwide gross collection to Rs 5.62 crore.
Viewers remained divided after the film’s release. While some praised the film’s humour and comic timing, others said it relied on old and repetitive jokes. At the same time, the cast’s performances received unanimous praise from viewers and reviewers.
India Today, in its review of Pati Patni Aur Woh Dowrote, “Pati Patni Aur Woh Do is not great cinema. It is not groundbreaking, unforgettable or emotionally layered. But it is enjoyable enough, consistently watchable and powered by an actor who has clearly returned to his strongest zone. That is enough for a casual Friday movie outing.”
Apart from Ayushmann, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do also features Wamiqa Gabbi, Rakul Preet Singh and Sara Ali Khan in key roles. The film theatrically released on May 15, 2026.
