JAMIE Vardy, the legendary striker who once shook the world with Leicester City, had to endure the bitterness of relegation for the second season in a row. This time not in England, but in Italy and it seemed like his adventure with Cremonese had truly ended.
Cremonese was officially relegated to Serie B after being defeated by Como 1907 with a score of 1-4 at the close of the 2025-2026 Serie A season, Monday (25/5). This result ensured that Cremonese finished in 18th position in the standings with 34 points, accompanying Verona and Pisa down the ladder.
1. Two Seasons in a Row Being a Victim of Relegation
For Vardy, this is not just a team failure, it is the same wound in a different place. Last season, he failed to save Leicester City from relegation in the Premier League.
Now the same thing is happening in Italy with Cremonese. This is an ironic fate for a player who led the Foxes to a surprising Premier League title in 2016.
Vardy joined Cremonese on a free transfer in the summer of 2025. The 39 year old player appeared 29 times throughout the season with 7 goals and 3 assists.
Quite a contribution for a veteran, but not enough to stem the tide of relegation that hit La Cremo.
2. Ready to Open a New Leaf
Vardy’s contract at Cremonese ends on June 30 2026. It is reported that he will not continue his adventure in Italy and is ready to leave on a free transfer.
Trusted transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano has even confirmed the news. Vardy is said to be ready to start a new chapter in his career after confirming his departure from Cremonese.
