BENCHMARK EVENTS

The VIGA Music Awards is a comprehensive experience that extends beyond a single event. It is complemented by a series of enriching events and activations, and presents a range of seasons and collaborations that further enhance its impact throughout the year. These include:

• Nomination & Voting Season:

This is a three-month process involving the evaluation, submission, and classification of artists and their works within their respective categories. It culminates in the Nominations Bash, where the season’s nominees are unveiled and opened for public voting, thereby setting the stage for the ultimate celebration of music excellence. Voting is carried out online and through SMS, with results displayed until two weeks to the final event.

• Regional Awards Galas

These regional events are where we celebrate and honor creatives within indigenous communities, while offering the locals a taste of the VIGA Music Awards red-carpet experience. They serve as a crucial build-up to the Grand Finale Gala, where the regional Female and Male winners ultimately compete for the prestigious Artist of the Year award and perform. These events are a true testament to the rich musical diversity and excellence found across the country.

• The Grand Finale Awards Gala

The pinnacle of the VIGA Music Awards season, this premier event is where music excellence meets grand celebration! It promises a glamorous, sumptuous feast, highlighting surprise performances, special guest appearances, and unforgettable moments. This is truly the biggest night for gospel!

• Extension Events (Jan-Dec):

These are post VIGA Music Awards Grand Finale events that put the spotlight on our winners, providing a platform to showcase their award-winning songs and talents as we promote the Green Culture and Civic Responsibility. This enables them to connect with new audiences and expand their reach. They include:

• Gospel Kikadde

This is a concert that is headlined by the respective recipient of the VIGA Gospel Legends Award. It features and honors the ministers with enduring impact, those who have selflessly shared messages of faith, hope, and love over time. This annual tribute celebrates the rich heritage of gospel music and the artists leaving an indelible mark that continues to transform lives to the glory of God. Timeless Music; Honoring Legends, Inspiring Generations!

• Gospel Unplugged

A regular twice a month intimate showcase and capacity-building program for the VIGA Music Awards winners and emerging creatives. The program is executed in collaboration with the Uganda National Cultural Center (UNCC) at the National Theatre and has spontaneous Church activations. Gospel Unplugged supports the growth of artists, providing a platform for networking, skill-building, professional mentorship, and spiritual enrichment.
