Two seriously injured in fire at riding stable in Hombrechtikon
Two people were seriously injured in the fire in a riding stable in Hombrechtikon on Friday evening.

lip/puz. In Hombrechtikon on Lake Zurich, a fire broke out on Friday evening in a farm with a horse stable. A total of ten people were injured in the fire at the Niederfeld stud farm, two of them seriously, according to a statement from the Zurich cantonal police.

According to the police, when the emergency services arrived, everyone in the building had already made their own way outside. However, a 73-year-old man and an 84-year-old woman suffered serious injuries. Rega flew both to hospitals in rescue helicopters. Eight other people sustained minor injuries. The emergency services took two of them to hospitals for further clarification, while six people were able to receive outpatient care on site.
No animals were harmed. A large number of police and fire departments were on site and were able to quickly bring the fire under control. Nevertheless, there was material damage worth over one million francs to the house and the attached stable.
According to the police, the building is currently no longer habitable. The affected residents found temporary accommodation with relatives and friends. The cause of the fire is currently unclear. The Zurich cantonal police are clarifying this in cooperation with the public prosecutor’s office.
Fare evasion on the Limmattalbahn: 25 passengers caught without a valid ticket
bai. The Schlieren city police carried out checks at the Limmattalbahn stops on Thursday between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. together with Aargau Verkehr AG. Aargau Verkehr checked 737 people to see whether they had valid tickets with them. 25 people were unable to produce a ticket.

The Zurich cantonal police also carried out checks, but on heavy traffic, as they reported. The police checked 10 trucks and their drivers in the Winterthur area on Friday night. They paid attention to compliance with the night driving ban and the work and rest time regulations (ARV). A fine was only imposed in connection with the ARV. Another fine was imposed for exceeding the speed limit. A chauffeur was reported to the Winterthur governor’s office because of overload. The cantonal police said the check showed that the drivers did a professional job.
Canopy falls on construction worker – he is fatally injured

The fire department was able to rescue the man. The emergency services immediately initiated resuscitation. However, the victim’s injuries were so severe that he succumbed to them at the scene of the accident.

Raid on illegal gambling ring in Glattbrugg – 60,000 francs confiscated

Military vehicle hits car – 72-year-old driver moderately injured

At the level of the railway barrier, the driver in front of him wanted to turn left. For reasons that are still unclear, a rear-end collision occurred. The passenger car was thrown away from the military vehicle and came to a stop on the railway line. The 72-year-old driver suffered moderate injuries as a result of the violent impact. He was taken to the hospital in an ambulance.
Effretikonerstrasse was closed to traffic for several hours while the accident was being recorded.
In addition to the cantonal police, the Wallisellen city police, the responsible public prosecutor’s office, two fire departments, Rega, the rescue service of the Winterthur hospital, the Swiss army, the SBB intervention and private towing companies were on duty.
