JAKARTA – “Green” electric taxis or Green SM have been in the spotlight in the last week. The train accident incident in East Bekasi is thought to have started when an electric taxi car broke down at the crossing, before it hit the KRL on the Cikarang–Jakarta route.
Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Dudy Purwagandhi immediately ordered the Director General of Land Transportation to meet with the electric taxi manager.
The following are the facts regarding Green SM taxis, starting from the KRL tempering incident to the potential revocation of operational permits:
1. Green SM Taxi Driver Arrested
The police stated that the Green SM taxi driver had been arrested in connection with the collision between the KRL and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train at East Bekasi Station, West Java.
Head of the Traffic Accident Data Collection, Processing and Review Section of the National Police Traffic Corps, Commissioner Sandhi Wiedyanoe, revealed that currently the taxi driver is undergoing examination at the Bekasi City Metro Police.
“Pengemudi sudah diamankan di Polres Metro Bekasi Kota untuk dilakukan pendalaman lebih lanjut oleh Kasat Lantas,” said Sandhi.
2. Green SM’s permit is threatened with suspension
The Ministry of Transportation has threatened to freeze the operational permit for online taxi transport Xanh SM or Green SM following an accident involving the Cikarang KRL in Bekasi on Monday night (27/4).
Director General of Land Transportation, Aan Suhanan, said that his party had summoned Green SM management to provide clarification after the accident.
