The story of a high school student who gave a warm drink to an elderly person with dementia who was lost and shivering in the cold, stayed by his side until the end, and helped him return to his family has been revealed, leaving a calming impression.
On the 8th, a 1 minute and 6 second video was posted on the National Police Agency’s official YouTube channel under the title, ‘Because he’s like my grandfather.’ The video, released on Parents’ Day, contains the good deeds of Choi Jun-young, a third-year student at Munhyeon High School in Ulsan.
According to the video, Choi was on his way home last month when he found an elderly man who had lost his way and was standing alone. At the time, the elderly man was shivering in the cold weather wearing thin clothes and could not remember exactly where his home was.
Mr. Choi decided that the elderly man was showing symptoms of dementia, so he stayed by his side and bought him a warm drink to help him relax. Mr. Choi recalled the situation at the time, saying, “My grandfather held my arm and asked if he could take me to the police station,” and “My hands were so cold that I bought honey water from a convenience store and gave it to him.”
Afterwards, he immediately reported the situation to the police and explained the situation, and stayed with the elderly man while holding his hand until the police arrived.
Mr. Choi calmly expressed his feelings, saying, “I thought of my grandfather who was far away. When I saw him alone, I couldn’t just pass him by. I would have helped anyone who was in the same situation.” The police personally delivered a certificate of appreciation to Choi for his good deed.
