So Chelsea Coach, Xabi Alonso Hunts for French National Team Players in the 2026 World Cup!

XAB Alonso officially became Chelsea coach today, Sunday (17/5/2026). According to Fabrizio Romano, an official announcement will be made by management The Blues -Chelsea’s nickname- today.

“Xabi Alonso has signed a contract with Chelsea. The club’s official statement is next,” wrote Fabrizio Romano on his Instagram account, @fabriziorom.

“Xabi Alonso will be the manager, not the head coach. Chelsea will involve Alonso in the transfer strategy this summer. The contract is valid until June 2030 and was announced today,” continued Fabrizio Romano.

1. Xabi Alonso Outstanding Young Coach

Xabi Alonso is one of the outstanding young coaches. He brought Bayer Leverkusen to the 2023-2024 Bundesliga championship, without a single defeat.

The tactician from Spain made history, namely bringing The Werkself -Bayer Leverkusen’s nickname – the first Bundesliga champions in history. This achievement resulted in Xabi Alonso being appointed as Real Madrid coach in the summer of 2025.

Xabi Alonso is contracted with Real Madrid until 30 June 2028 or for five years. Unfortunately, after only seven months of coaching Real Madrid, Xabi Alonso was immediately kicked out by Los Blancos management.
