In celebration of Family Month, Volunteer Aewon is carrying out travel support activities to help restore family bonds for low-income, disabled, multicultural, and single-parent families.
Volunteer Aewon (Chairman Go-eun Kim), an incorporated association, provided resort lodging vouchers (for 6 people) and Balwangsan cable car tickets (for 2 people) to 25 underprivileged families as part of the ‘Family Travel Support Project’ in celebration of Family Month in May.
Balwangsan Mountain (1458m) is a mountain located in Daegwallyeong-myeon, Pyeongchang-gun, Gangwon-do, and is well known for Yongpyeong Resort and tourist cable car.
These families, who lacked travel opportunities due to the burden of livelihood and care environment, enjoyed a comfortable rest at Yongpyeong Resort and the pleasure of taking a cable car to the top of Balwangsan Mountain. At night, colorful illuminations, a festival of lights, were held, creating special memories for families and adding to the warm atmosphere.
Volunteer Aewon is a related organization of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification, and has been carrying out the ‘Family On Travel Support Project’ for the fifth year. It plans to support 25 additional families by November, providing lodging and cable car tickets to Balwangsan Mountain to a total of 50 families this year.
This project is being carried out with the support of Mona Yongpyeong Co., Ltd. (CEO Park In-jun). Mona Yongpyeong has worked hard to create a barrier-free environment so that the disabled and transportation vulnerable can enjoy travel without restrictions, and plans to continue to spread the value of sharing by collaborating with Volunteer Aewon.
The satisfaction level of participating families was also high. One participant said, “I made unforgettable memories by watching the night illuminations with my children, taking pictures, and sharing the experience of riding a cable car for the first time.” Another participant said, “Through the trip, we looked at each other leisurely, talked naturally, and the distance between family members became closer,” and “It was a time to understand each other, including a greater willingness to wait for the child.”
Chairman Kim Go-eun said, “Family is the most important community that supports our society, but many families still do not have the opportunity to travel for various reasons. I hope this project will be an opportunity to reaffirm the love between families and share warmth.”
Meanwhile, Mona Yongpyeong is also participating in the ‘Christmas Festival of Dreams and Love’ hosted by Volunteer Aewon from 2021, donating accommodation vouchers and cable car tickets worth 15 million won every year. This is evaluated as an example of sustainable social contribution based on private sector cooperation.
