A couple in their 20s was put on trial on charges of murdering their 2-year-old son in Changnyeong, Gyeongsangnam-do.
The Miryang branch of the Changwon District Prosecutors’ Office announced on the 9th that on the 10th of last month, Mr. A (20s) and his wife B (20s) were indicted on charges of child abuse and murder under the Special Act on Punishment of Child Abuse Crimes.
Last January, at a residence in Changnyeong, the biological father, Mr. A, is accused of assaulting and tying up his son because he was not sleeping and was making noise.
It was found that during the crime, Mr. B tied his son with an adult shirt so that he could not move.
When the child died from symptoms of dehydration, it was found that Mr. A and his father-in-law, Mr. C, placed his son’s body in a gunny sack and abandoned it in an abandoned house in Namji-eup, Changnyeong, where Mr. C had previously lived. Mr. C was indicted without detention on charges of abandoning a body.
Currently, the biological father is denying the charges and the biological mother has admitted to all charges. Indirect evidence, such as the mother’s statement, autopsy results, and whereabouts records, is expected to be the key to proving guilt.
The first trial is scheduled to be held at the Miryang Branch of the Changwon District Court on the 13th.
