While it was delayed, his personal information was leaked to netizens.
A post claiming to be the real name and photo of Jang-mo (24), who killed a female high school student and seriously injured a male high school student in Gwangju, is spreading on social networking services (SNS).
On the 9th, a post containing Mr. Jang’s real name was posted on many social media accounts, including Instagram and Thread. The post included several photos that were mentioned recently and in adolescence, along with the text “The face of Mr. Jang, the perpetrator of the Gwangju high school girl attack incident.” Some users also wrote about Jang’s family, but the exact facts of these contents were not confirmed.
Previously, the Gwangju Police Agency held a Personal Information Disclosure Deliberation Committee on the 8th and decided to disclose Mr. Jang’s name, age, and face photo on its website for 30 days after determining that the regulatory requirements, such as serious damage, the public’s right to know, and prevention of repeat offenses, were met. To record the impressions of criminals, investigative agencies are considering disclosing ‘mugshots’ taken at the time of arrest.
However, as Mr. Jang, the person involved, refused to consent, the posting date was postponed until five days later, on the 14th, according to the procedure. The current Serious Crime Personal Information Disclosure Act stipulates a grace period of at least 5 days for disclosure if the suspect does not consent in writing.
Mr. Jang was arrested on charges of murder (murder, attempted murder, etc.) for killing A (17), a second-year high school student, on a deserted pedestrian path in Wolgye-dong, Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, at approximately 0:11 on the 5th, and swinging a weapon at another high school student (B) (17). He is known to have stated to the police, “I was contemplating suicide because I had no fun living, so I decided to commit a crime,” and “someone tried to take me with him.”
The police, who were investigating the purpose of Mr. Jang’s crime, also conducted a diagnostic test for ‘psychopathy (antisocial personality disorder)’.
