The personal information of a man in his 20s who killed a high school girl whom he had never met with a weapon in downtown Gwangju is being circulated on social networking services (SNS) ahead of its official release.

On the morning of the 9th, the real name, adolescence, and recent profile photos of Jang-mo (24), who was arrested on charges of murder and attempted murder, are being distributed and spread through various social media platforms such as Instagram and YouTube.

Previously, the Gwangju Police Agency held a Personal Information Disclosure Deliberation Committee the day before and decided to disclose Mr. Jang’s personal information. It was determined that the legal requirements for disclosure were ▲ brutality of the crime ▲ seriousness of the damage ▲ sufficiency of the evidence ▲ the public’s right to know, and public interest.

However, Mr. Jang does not respond to the question of whether he consents to disclosure, and in fact refuses, and does not disclose it immediately. Although Mr. Jang did not consent, Mr. Jang’s personal information will be disclosed after a grace period.

The police will post and disclose Jang’s personal information, including his name, age, and mug shot (a recorded photo of a criminal’s impression), on the Gwangju Police Agency website for 30 days from 9 a.m. on the 14th.

Previously, Mr. Jang was accused of murdering A (17), a high school student who was returning home from a road near a high school in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju, by stabbing her several times with a weapon around 10:10 on the 5th, Children’s Day, and attempting to kill B, another high school student who approached after hearing her screams.

Mr. Jang ran away immediately after the crime, but was arrested by the police near his residence about 11 hours after the incident. He is currently in custody and under investigation.
