JAKARTA – The DKI Jakarta Health Service (Dinkes) confirmed three positive cases Hantavirus in the capital region. Apart from that, six suspected cases are still being monitored to determine possible exposure to the virus.

This was conveyed by the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Health Service, Drg. Ani Ruspitawati, MM, while accompanying the Governor of DKI Jakarta Pramono Anung inaugurated the new building of the South Meruya 2 Sub-Public Health Center, Kembangan District, West Jakarta.

“For updates on Hantavirus cases in Jakarta, up to now we have still found three positive cases, which I conveyed to fellow journalists yesterday. But there are six suspects that we are still monitoring to this day,” he said, Monday (18/5/2026).

The DKI Jakarta Health Service also admitted that it had issued a circular to all health facilities in Jakarta as a follow-up to handling findings of Hantavirus cases.

A number of regional hospitals have also been designated as sentinel hospitals to tighten supervision and early detection if symptoms suggestive of Hantavirus are found in the community.

“We have designated several regional hospitals as sentinel hospitals to provide stricter monitoring in catching suspected Hantavirus cases in the community,” he continued.

Health Department Reminds Public to Be Alert

The Health Department has also prepared a fast action team that will act if there is a significant increase in cases. Apart from monitoring cases, the DKI Jakarta Health Office also reminds the public to be more alert to Hantavirus transmission patterns.
