JAKARTA- Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin said that by 2026, it is targeted that all districts in the Java region will be guarded by one Territorial Development Infantry Battalion (Yonif).

“Kita targetkan setiap tahun 150 batalyon untuk memenuhi 514 Kabupaten. Insha Allah di tahun 2026 seluruh kabupaten di wilayah Jawa sudah dikawal oleh satu batalyon Infanteri Teritorial Pembangunan,” said the Minister of Defense, during a meeting with Commission I DPR RI, Senayan, Jakarta, Tuesday (19/5/2026)

With the existence of the Development Territorial Infantry Battalion, it is hoped that it will be able to help reduce the crime rate in society, especially acts of robbery.

This is because the task of the Development Territorial Infantry Battalion is to carry out mobile patrols with vehicles prepared by the defense industry, both electric and non-electric vehicles.

So, he hopes that its existence will be able to build an environmental security system (Siskamling), whose activity had previously declined.
