It was revealed in the prosecution’s investigation that Mr. A, the biological father accused of abusing his 3-year-old son to death in Yangju, Gyeonggi Province, always had extreme antipathy toward the victim. Mr. A is also reported to have said, “I will kill the child and go to prison.”
◆ Prosecution: “He grabbed his ankles, knocked him down, and repeated corporal punishment with his filial son.”
According to the prosecution on the 19th, it was revealed that Mr. A always hated the third child, the victim, because he thought the child did not particularly follow his parents’ guidance. The prosecution stated, “The father continued to subject the child to corporal punishment by grabbing the child’s ankles and causing the child to fall, or hitting the child’s buttocks and soles with his or her hands.”
Mr. A’s parenting stress reached its peak as the child’s problematic behavior became more severe, including hitting and swearing at the daycare teacher, starting around late last year. It was revealed that if the child victim did not follow instructions, he was unable to control his emotions and hit him randomly, and he continued to physically assault the child, including allowing his nephew to hit the child.
◆ “I will kill you and go to prison”… Extreme remarks made after being repeatedly discharged from daycare center
In particular, when the child victim repeatedly left the daycare center, Mr. A was found to have said, “I will kill (the child victim) and go to prison.” In addition, it was confirmed that he put boxing gloves on his children and made them fight with each other, or that he swore at them while the children listened.
◆ On the 9th of last month, he was thrown onto a stone bed… dies after brain surgery
Then, on the 9th of last month, Mr. A, who was unable to control the accumulated stress on his own, was found to have thrown the child onto a stone bed when the victim urinated in the diaper even though the child could urinate, ultimately causing the child to die.
The deceased child was transported to the hospital from an apartment in Okjeong-dong, Yangju-si on the afternoon of the 9th. The victim underwent brain surgery at the hospital, but was unable to regain consciousness for a week and eventually died.

This incident came to light after being reported by the hospital. The hospital that treated the victim reported to 112 that “child abuse was suspected and there was head trauma.” The police investigating the case urgently arrested the parents in their 20s and detained the biological father, Mr. A.
The police identified suspicions of child abuse through forensics on the parents’ cell phones. However, it is known that the facts confirmed on the mobile phone are not directly related to the head injuries suffered by the child. The biological mother, Mr. B, reportedly denied the charges, saying at the time, “I heard a ‘thud’ sound and went to see the child convulsing.”
On the 6th, the prosecution detained Mr. A and sent him to trial on charges of child abuse and death.
Meanwhile, a report of suspected abuse of a child victim was reported against Mr. A in December last year, but he was not indicted. Mr. A’s first trial is scheduled to be held on the 28th.
